Life throws curve balls

Sometimes life tosses you the unexpected, and it takes a while to get realigned with the energies of the universe.  Thank you for being patient while my son was in the hospital….including the challenging time leading up to his hospitalization, the growing awareness of how broken our bizarre system of “health” care is while he was inpatient (many great doctors, nurses, case managers, therapists, etc… many frustrating insurance stupidity issues), and during this time of restructuring and finding a new normal since his discharge 2 days ago.

Even when you feel like your life is on the right track, and your emotions are focused in the “right” direction for yourself, things sometimes show up to remind us of 2 things.

The first is that we all carry a lot of residual energies with us, subconscious thoughts are are still focused away from where we are headed.  There are negative beliefs that tug our experience into unpleasant and painful directions.  Perhaps it is  old feelings, memories, or challenges that we may have thought we had gotten through and moved beyond, but may still be lingering in the field of energy we are producing.  While no one wants to spend a lot of time or energy trying to ferret out these beliefs, memories, or energies (nor do we want to turn our life or the focus of our spirit fully in that direction), it is important to realize that we carry them, and that we each have the power to let them go.  Letting go gently, without shame or self deprecation, just remembering that we are who we are, and each day is a chance to move our lives and our spiritual focus further ahead on the positive path we have chosen.

The second thing that we are reminded of is that we are not living in a bubble just of our own creation.  If you have people that you love, that your life is intertwined with, their energies are influencing your eneenergies, just as you are influencing them on both a physical and a spiritual level.  Some counsel that you should avoid all people who bring negative energy into your life.  In my opinion, that is the narcissistic coward’s way of
deciding to be alone in their supposed “success”.  People are worth loving and including in your life.  Even the difficult ones, perhaps especially the difficult ones.  People loved you when you were difficult, and may have had a negative impact on their day to day lives, but I guarantee that those people experienced person growth and refinement of their spiritual character through loving.  We all do.  Love is the most powerful creative force in all levels of the universe.  It is through love (gratitude, appreciation, passion, fulfillment) that we experience our true beingness, the powerful guidance that part of who we are, and it is through love, especially love of those who challenge us and our fragile belief systems, that we experience true transformation in the world around us and through us.  So love deeply, love unconditionally, and allow love to flow through you in unending abundance–this is always the fastest track to who you really are and your best purpose in life.

Sometimes it can be hard to separate another person’s life and energies from your own, especially during times of  hospitalization or crisis.  Yet it is vital that you are able to do so, remembering who YOU are, what YOUR truth is, and keeping YOUR connection to source wide open and free.  Only in that way can your energies help to lift the energies of the one that you love.  Meditation, affirmations, and journaling are some of the best protections for your own wellspring of Source love. They can help you keep the love and abundance of the Universe flowing through you.  It fills you up, overflowing your cup, and spreading into the lives the you touch.

Ask and it is Given

7 “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.”  Matthew 7:7-8   New International Version

When I was in college, I came across this idea in the Bible many times.  Having attended a Christian College, we often explored the Bible and how to apply it to our lives.  The passage in Matthew 7:7-8 is one of great  interest to me when it comes to co-creating the life that speaks most to my soul, for it focuses on how important a connection to God is in living your purpose.

If you are interested in looking at various translation of this passage, as well as reading the passage in context, consider checking out this great parallel Bible.

A few years ago, I discovered a book called Ask and it is Given by Esther and Jerry Hicks.   I had been exploring the relationship between our thoughts and the outcomes in our lives.  While not a “Christian” book, it certainly spoke of the need to connect with the Divine, to ask for what we are seeking, and to be open to accepting that which comes to us from our asking.

In the past, I had tried many affirmations, positive thinking, and journaling exercises, with some results, but it always seems I could not move far or fast.  It also seemed like I was lying to myself sometimes, trying to convince myself of a fact that I did not believe or ignoring my emotions and pretending to be feeling somethign better.  However the Emotional Guidance Scale laid out in Ask and It Is Given provided me with a much better pictures of how to walk up the ladder in terms of feeling better and in  terms of reaching goals.

Rarely can a person go from feeling depressed and powerless to feeling passionate, joyful, and powerful happiness.  So instead of helping, so many exercises I tried in the past made me feel like a failure, I couldn’t get myself into that top space of feeling and minifest, I felt like the only life I could create was more of the same with tiny baby steps towards a better life.  Baby Steps are fine, as moving forward is better than standing still or worse, moving backwards.  But after a while baby steps get annoying, you want FASTER improvement, faster manifestation of the creations in your mind, faster paths to living a full and purpose filled life.

Ask and it is Given  gave that to me.  It gave me the opportunity to walk from a bad feeling place to a slightly better feeling place, and then from there to and even better feeling place, and so on.  Moving up the emotional scale from negative to positive, until I could finally reach those top layers of joy and happiness, love and appreciation–those levels where the life I wanted to have could actually start being accepted into my reality.  This book also helped me realize that doing this type of work in all areas was important, as when you change your thinking about one area of life that feels bad or that you feel powerless in, other areas that were masked begin to appear, so that you start turning those areas, relationships, experiences, and thoughts towards a better direction of flow.  And piece by piece, life starts feeling better, and when something does not feel better, I now have the tools to bring that back to the Source, back to God, back to the Divine–and turn it around both in my mind and in my external reality.  That is what life is all about.  Experiencing something, seeking the Higher Power’s connection to ask for something better, and walking towards that somethign better, trusting that it will unfold in just the right way and the right timing.
